Southeastern has been awarded a U.S. patent for a new compound—with potential applications that could impact both the medical and industrial worlds. Southeastern recently received its second U.S. patent in its 97-year history. The patent was awarded to Southeastern in conjunction with Fort Hays State University, located in Hays, Kan., for use of pnictogenium compounds in carbon-carbon bond formation. During the 2022 Legislative Session, Southeastern received approval for significant incremental capital outlay funding to enhance current building projects and start planning on a brand new project. Partial support for these projects is also being provided by donors and the Southeastern Foundation.
